In 2024, the students of Dansoman Cluster B left the Inter-School Reading Quiz (ISRQ) with disappointment. Their journey had ended in the Round of 16, and for many, it felt like the end of a dream. But it wasn't.
Unlike many of their competitors, the students faced significant challenges. Their school lacked a well-functioning library and had limited access to reading resources. Yet they remained determined to improve.
Through the support of Perbi Cubs, the students gained access to books, reading resources, and structured literacy support that helped them build stronger reading habits and improve their comprehension skills. A dedicated facilitator also worked closely with the team, encouraging and guiding them throughout their reading journey.
Over the following months, the students committed themselves to reading consistently and engaging deeply with books. What began as a disappointing exit gradually became a remarkable story of growth and perseverance. When the 2025 ISRQ competition began, Dansoman Cluster B returned with renewed confidence. Round after round, they demonstrated the progress they had made, eventually securing a place in the grand finale against Alpha Beta Education Centre. In an unforgettable showdown, the public-school students who had been eliminated in the Round of 16 just a year earlier emerged as champions of the 2025 Inter-School Reading Quiz.
Their journey is a powerful reminder that talent exists everywhere, but access does not. When children are given the resources, support, and opportunities they need to succeed, extraordinary outcomes become possible.
For PerbiCubs Foundation, stories like Dansoman Cluster B's reinforce why expanding access to literacy opportunities matters. Across Africa, countless children possess the same potential but lack the books, support systems, and learning environments needed to thrive. By helping bridge these gaps, we can ensure that more children have the chance to write their own success stories.
